Using EclipseCrossword on very old versions of Windows
EclipseCrossword will run without any problems on any remotely recent PC. If you have a very old computer, pre-2000, you might need to download and install one or two system updates before it will work.
Since those versions of Windows (Windows 95, 98, NT 4, and ME) have not been supported by Microsoft for many years, the system updates that are necessary to use EclipseCrossword are no longer available from Microsoft, and unfortunately there’s not much that we can do to help you anymore.
You may, however, already have the updates. The easiest way to check would be to download EclipseCrossword and see if you’re able to complete the install process and run the app.
For your reference, the two updates that were necessary are:
- Windows Installer 2.0 or later
- Visual Basic 6 Service Pack 5 runtime update
If you’re able to find and download the versions of those updates for your system, EclipseCrossword will probably work for you.
